Patrice Rhone

About me

My name is Patrice and I am a marketing professional, fashion fanatic and 80’s baby from Toronto with Jamaican roots. In the Fall of 2016, I officially launched my lifestyle blog 54 du Rhone. The blog is a series of fashion centric personal essays. I reflect on issues that affect plus size women, black women and women of colour.
THE STORY BEHIND 54 DU RHONE
Côte du Rhône
“Côte du Rhône” is a famous wine producing region in France. My last name is Rhone; I am a plus size woman and the best red wines from the region are full bodied. I attempted to combine ‘du Rhone’ with different words that communicated curvy. It felt forced, contrived and limiting. Style transcends so I stayed away from calling out to my size in the name of the blog.
Studio 54
My mother was born in 1954 and coincidentally, I adore the fashion from heyday of the club Studio 54. I admire the versatility and range in the era exemplified by Halston’s minimalist draped gowns to Grace Jones fearless, audacious and sexy outfits. 54 met du Rhone and the blog was born!
Style
My closet is a mash of sexy second skin silhouettes mixed with classic and contemporary pieces. Sporty and feminine items are also in my wardrobe. I have a susceptibility to bright colours, patterns and texture and a affinity for crop tops. My size ranges from a size 18-20 however, this depends on the brand.
Jean Cocteau French writer, designer, playwright, artist and filmmaker said, “Style is a simple way of saying complicated things”.
I have a few things to say.
