Earning Your Stripes: Influencer Marketing

The athletic stripes trend is still bumping! Personally, the stripes trend takes on a greater meaning. Stripes are symbolic of dedication and effort. Similarly to individuals in the military, stripes are a badge of rank or service. It is also an informal recognition of one’s efforts, experience or achievements. In theory, this how influencer marketing works.

Influencer marketing is a competitive sport

The entrepreneurial bug is infectious; keeping this in mind, content creation is a competition and a brand deal is BAE. I am in the junior league, but here are my thoughts on the art of blogging. I am very insecure and stress every time I create a blog post. I am working on earning the respect of my peers through my fashion styling and writing. With that said, my creativity and self-expression are my motivation. My focus is on relationship building and producing great content.

Influencers were celebs

Once upon a time, an actor or an athlete would formally endorse a product. The term influencer is more or less a recent marketing strategy and influencers are not just traditional celebrities anymore. An athlete’s contribution to a sport is cemented by a major endorsement as much as, if not more, than winning a championship or a title. The internet and social media changed the game.

But who is a influencer?

In 2008, my coworker introduced me to the blonde salad and Bryanboy. I never seen myself as a blogger and at the time, I didn’t know that blogging was a business. Isn’t a blog a hobby for the fashion elite? I regret not starting my blog sooner because I was fixated on what I was not, or did not have, and foolishly thought I could never be. An influencer has established credibility in a specific industry and has access to a large audience. An influencer can persuade others by virtue of their authenticity and reach. More attention needs to be to paid establishing credibility by creating great content. I am not entirely altruistic, however, you need to have the passion and dedication before you get the paycheck.
